Comprehensive support and training is provided to ensure the efficient and effective use of these resources. The school continually assesses recent developments in technology to ensure that we leverage the vast educational benefits of modern advancements.
Facilities
The school has 2 cross-curricular ICT Suites, in addition to 2 open-access ICT Suites housed in the Learning Resource Centre and the Sixth Form Centre. In addition, various Departments have specialist ICT facilities available. This ensures that ICT resources can be leveraged seamlessly in the delivery of teaching and learning.
All classrooms are fitted with an Interactive Whiteboard, and all staff are provided with a modern laptop. This provides a flexible resource for classroom teaching.
The school has significantly invested in ICT in recent years, including a new communication and server infrastructure. There are over 270 computers available for student use, and these are replaced every 5 years at a minimum. Departments also have access to a large number of cross-curricular and specialist peripherals and software. All computers within the school are connected to the network, either via fixed access points, or via our industry standard site-wide secure wireless network, allowing for easy access to shared resources and our 1gb Internet connection.
All students have access to Office 365 providing online storage and access to the Microsoft Office suite for home use. Students in Years 11-13 have access to the wireless network for Internet access on their personal devices.
In line with our e-Safety and Child Protection Policies, Internet filtering software is in place and continually monitored to ensure that Internet sites accessible are of an appropriate nature for education. The school also employs Impero monitoring software to alert staff to potential issues which may be a cause for concern.
To facilitate wider learning, access is provided to the Virtual Learning Environment, school documents, and e-mail from any computer with an Internet connection.
