BARTON COURT GRAMMAR SCHOOL RANKED TOP OF THE SCHOOL PERFORMANCE LEAGUE TABLES (Provisional Oct 2017) IN THE CANTERBURY, COASTAL, THANET, SWALE and DOVER DISTRICTS

Barton Court Grammar School is celebrating after coming out top position in the new progress 8 measure across all grammar and non-selective schools within the whole of Canterbury, Coastal, Thanet, Swale and Dover Districts according to the DfE provisional school performance data issued last week.

The new progress 8 measure compares the level of progress that students make between KS2 and KS4 across 8 subjects including English and Maths.

The latest DFE data can be found at:

“This is a fantastic achievement by our students who celebrated outstanding GCSE results in the summer with the %A*/A rising by more than 5% compared to 2016. The students and staff have worked incredibly hard with the support of parents and governors to achieve such impressive outcomes and progress measures. This is testament to their hard work and commitment and we are very proud that the students at BCGS make “well above average progress” with a P8 score of +0.56. This means on average students achieve half a grade more in each of their 8 GCSE subjects including English and Mathematics than is expected.” said Ms Kirstin Cardus, Executive Headteacher of Barton Court Grammar School.

Barton Court Academy Trust is also celebrating with The Charles Dickens School who achieved a P8 score ranked 3rd in Thanet. A P8 score that exceeds that of a few grammar schools and many non-selective schools in Thanet, Canterbury and on the Coast. Barton Court Grammar School has been supporting The Charles Dickens School since June 2016 and the School recently joined the Barton Court Academy Trust in March 2017.

“The Charles Dickens School is a fantastic school which is making good progress towards the Trust’s aim to become an Ofsted recognised “Good” school or better in the next inspection. There has been significant improvements to the school within the last 12 months and the students have already started to benefit from this.” Ms Kirstin Cardus, Executive Headteacher of The Charles Dickens School.
